Slim Emcee [UG] the poet a.k.a Kabubi Herman is one of the pioneers of performance poetry in Uganda, as well as supporting each and every poetry night in Kampala. As a prolific writer, he recites poems echoing the shifting allegiance of African natives from their roots to popular Western cultures and how these experiences are translated into a hybrid society, social issues that continue to affect people. In general, his writing is all-round.

AM HIP-HOP
WE ARE SO HIP-HOP
WE HAVE ALL THE HOPE
TO DO WHAT YOU CAN CALL TO COPE
AND BE SUCCESSFUL LIKE THE POPE
IF YOU HATE HIP-HOP YOU ARE TO DROPE
I DO PAINT WITH A MOP
AND WHILE DANCING USE ALL THE PROPS
FOR I AM HIP-HOP
